British Ambassador to Ireland, is visiting Counties Meath and Westmeath today to engage with businesses and regional leaders and to highlight the strong economic relationship between the UK and Ireland.
The Ambassador will begin the day at Kepak Group’s headquarters in Clonee, where she will meet senior company representatives to discuss investment, growth, and opportunities in the agri-food sector.
She will then travel to Athlone to attend the Athlone Chamber Corporate Lunch, one of the Midlands’ flagship business and policy events. The lunch – with guest of honour Helen McEntee, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade – will bring together senior business leaders, policymakers, diplomats, and elected representatives, to discuss regional economic development, investment, and international trade.
The Ambassador’s programme will also include a meeting with Athlone-based pharmaceutical company Dunbar Pharma.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Ambassador Kara Owen said:
“Every time I travel around Ireland, I am struck by the ambition, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit of the businesses I meet. Today’s visit to Meath and Athlone is an opportunity to hear first-hand about the opportunities and challenges facing companies that are investing, growing, and creating jobs across Ireland and the UK. The close economic relationship between the UK and Ireland is built on partnerships like these. Following the recent and very positive meeting between Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Taoiseach Micheál Martin, I look forward to exploring how we can build on that renewed momentum and further strengthen the economic ties that support jobs, investment and prosperity in communities across the UK and Ireland.”
The visit reflects the Embassy’s continued commitment to engaging with businesses and communities across Ireland and supporting stronger economic links between the UK and Ireland.
