A new study has found that out of culinary schools in the UK, Capital City College has graduated the highest number who go on to become Michelin star chefs.

The study, conducted by Chef’s Pencil, interviewed 150 chefs based in the UK who work at restaurants with a Michelin star. The research revealed that seven of these notable chefs trained at Capital City College’s culinary school, the highest number out of any culinary school in the UK to date.

The college has graduated several Michelin star and celebrity chefs, most notably Jamie Oliver, Ainsley Harriott, and winners of Great British Menu and MasterChef: the Professionals, including Alex Webb, Selin Kiazim and Nikita Pathakji.

The culinary school, formerly known as Westminster Kingsway, has a long history of training leaders in hospitality. First established in the early twentieth century by Baroness Burdett-Coutts and culinary experts Auguste Escoffier, César Ritz, and Isidore Salmon, the college’s training restaurant has set a standard for teaching key skills in the hospitality field.

Paul Jervis, Head of Hospitality and Culinary Arts at Capital City College, said:
“The achievements of our Michelin‑starred alumni stand as a powerful testament to the consistently high standards of training at Westminster – Capital City College. Their success reflects not only individual talent, but the rigorous education, professional discipline, and culture of excellence that underpin everything we do.”
