This October, Japanese dining destination, Aki London, will mark Frieze Week (14th – 18th October) with an exceptional programme bringing together contemporary art and Japanese gastronomy.
Created in collaboration with Artistic Director and Strategic Curator of Aki London Dr Polina Surina, the programme has been conceived for collectors, art enthusiasts and those looking to experience Frieze beyond the fair itself. From privileged access to artists’ studios and expert-led conversations to intimate dining and artist collaborations, each event offers a rare opportunity to engage with the contemporary art world in a more personal setting.
FRIEZE WEEK AT AKI LONDON: FROM DAY TO NIGHT | CURATED ART EXPERIENCE – 16 OCTOBER
The highlight of the programme is the intimate ‘From Day to Night’, a full day experience on Friday 16th October, offering access that goes far beyond a conventional Frieze visit.
Led by Dr Surina, a select group of guests are invited on a journey that begins with a private visit to Bouke de Vries in his studio before experiencing a hosted VIP tour of Frieze London, bringing guests closer to the art and the people behind it.
The art-fuelled day culminates at Aki London with a Ruinart Champagne reception followed by the ‘Private Collector’s Table’ – an exclusive four-course dinner with wine pairings held in the restaurant’s elegant private dining room.
The menu by Executive Chef Collin Hudson features elevated plates including Wagyu beef and black garlic gyoza, seared salmon maki, omakase sashimi platters and caramelised black cod, finishing with Aki’s Japanese millefeuille, a piece of art in its own right. Each course is perfectly paired with prestige wines selected by Head Sommelier Antonio Palmarini, whose expertise spans both fine wine and sake.
With places intentionally limited, ‘From Day to Night’ offers a unique chance to spend Frieze Friday among a small circle of fellow art lovers, collectors and cultural insiders.
Tickets are priced at £595 per person including Frieze London admission. Click here to reserve your place, or email reservations@akilondon.com.
The bookable event forms part of wider Frieze Week programme including an Art & Science Breakfast on Wednesday 14th October alongside private collector dinners and artist conversations.
FRIEZE COCKTAILS AT KIYORI BAR: 13 OCTOBER – 1 NOVEMBER
The art continues below ground at Kiyori, Aki London’s subterranean cocktail bar, where works by multi-disciplinary artist, Ken Nwadiogbu will be exhibited. Guests can enjoy a limited-edition Frieze-inspired cocktail created in collaboration with Nwadiogbu.
Beyond Frieze, art is integral to Aki London. The restaurant is home to an impressive permanent collection spanning sculpture, ceramics, textiles and light installations by internationally recognised artists including Ryan Gander, Yoshirotten, Bouke de Vries, and Kapwani Kiwanga.
