Fresh England Injury Blow Ahead Of Home Nations League Game Against Czech Republic

England have suffered a fresh injury blow with yet another drop-out ahead of their final Nations League game of this extended international break.

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, who excelled on his full international debut in Saturday’s 7-0 thumping of Croatia, has withdrawn after picking up a thigh complaint. He felt the injury prior to the victory in Rijeka but made it through 70 minutes and impressed as Thomas Tuchel’s men ran riot. It is reported that Scott could miss around eight weeks of action owing to the quadricep injury.

Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa has also been ruled out of Tuesday’s visit of Czech Republic as he returns to his parent club for treatment on an unspecified injury.

Tuchel was full of praise for Scott after Saturday’s evisceration of Croatia: “First start and what a start, what a performance. He is so smooth on the ball, his decision making is at the highest level. He plays with so much confidence. He is so active, so confident. The work rate off the ball.

“He is just the complete package. He gave us a lot of mobility and a lot of variety and work rate in the centre of the pitch.”

Scott and Konsa’s absence adds to a flurry of withdrawals during this camp, with the likes of Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford and Declan Rice bowing out before the first game against Spain.
