Sykes Holiday Cottages has now helped 350 families caring for children with serious long-term illnesses or disabilities enjoy a free UK break through its partnership with charity, Time Away.
The organisation supports families caring for children with serious long-term illnesses or disabilities, giving them the chance to spend quality time together away from the pressures of everyday life.
Donations of free stays through Time Away by Sykes owners are 12.5% higher than last year, with 100 holidays already gifted in 2026 and more expected to take place over the coming months.
Since the relationship began in 2022, stays donated by Sykes owners have given 1,220 adults and children, including parents, guardians and carers, the chance to a break together – as well as 52 family dogs.
James Shaw, Managing Director at Sykes Holiday Cottages, said: “To know that 350 families have been able to take a break together through the scheme is really special, and it would not have been possible without the generosity of our owners who have donated stays.
“We are grateful to every owner who has supported the scheme, and with donations continuing to grow this year, we hope even more families will be able to enjoy a much-needed break.”
Families who have enjoyed holidays through the scheme have shared their thanks with the owners who made their stays possible.
Francesca, whose family enjoyed a Time Away break in Margate, said: “I wouldn’t ever have taken on the challenge of holidaying alone with my son, but this break helped me find confidence I had long lost contact with. Most importantly, we had fun together – something the demands of everyday life can quickly erode.
“The house was warm, colourful and welcoming, and the owner couldn’t have done more to make sure our stay was wonderful. It also meant I was able to see my 87-year-old aunt, who we hadn’t seen for seven years, which meant so much to me.”
