Hounslow residents are set to see more targeted and visible presence on their streets with a dedicated team of officers set to tackle numerous issues.
Fly-tipping has been a huge issue around the area and these new measures approved by the Cabinet in November last year includes a new enforcement team roaming to help prevent further incidents of anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping.
The launch of a new team will also mean they can engage with the local communities and educate residents on how to dispose waste and recycle correctly. There will also be regular community action days to give people a voice to share and tackle issues in their local area.
Each area of the borough, based on Council wards, will have a dedicated team of Enforcement Officers, who will get to know the community and work to keep their local area clean and safe. The team will wear distinct new uniforms to increase visibility while out and about in the borough.

Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, Leader of Hounslow Council said,
“Clean and safe streets is a major priority for our residents. We listened to their concerns and we are taking action.
“We’re on the side of the law-abiding majority who respect their neighbourhoods and take pride in where they live. Everyone must take personal responsibility and follow the rules. The message for those who don’t is clear- break the law and we’ll catch you and fine you.”
The team will also be equipped with hand-held devices which allows them to identify, capture, report and respond to issues in real time and reassure residents that the issues are being identified and dealt with.
With more than 27,000 fly-tipping incidents in Hounslow over the past year, it’s now the 5th highest rate of fly-tipping in London. The total yearly cost for collecting and disposing of fly-tipped waste is £4 million.
The new initiative has been shaped directly by the concerns of the local residents. Following a resident survey back in 2024, the results revealed that community safety and fly-tipping are among the most pressing issues to the public.
Councillor Pritam Grewal, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Customer Experience and Enforcement at Hounslow Council added,
“Our new approach to enforcement is about protecting our streets and public spaces, and the pride people have in where they live. Through an integrated enforcement team, new technology and collaboration with our communities, we will tackle fly-tipping, littering, irresponsible parking and driving, and other anti-social behaviour.
