Surrey have won the race to secure the services of highly rated fast bowler Henry Crocombe from Sussex.
Crocombe, 24, will join from Sussex ahead of the 2027 season.
The quick bowler has taken 106 First Class wickets in 48 matches since making his debut in 2020. In this season’s Rothesay County Championship, Crocombe has taken 21 wickets in seven matches at an average of 28.
His excellent form in recent years led to him being called up to the England Lions for the first time in May’s series against South Africa A. An impressive four wickets in his first bowling innings for the Lions led to him being added to the England men’s Test squad for the second Test match against New Zealand at the Kia Oval.
In T20 cricket, Crocombe took 15 wickets in the Vitality Blast for Sussex Sharks in 2025. Last week, he was snapped up by London Spirit in the Vitality Wildcard Draft for The 2026 Hundred.
On signing for Surrey, Henry Crocombe said: “It’s with a heavy heart that I will be leaving Sussex Cricket at the end of the season. I grew up at the Club and they supported me to play the game I love as a professional.
“I’m excited to start a new challenge at Surrey and the Kia Oval. I believe a move to south London offers me a new challenge and would benefit my own ambitions.
“This decision was not one I have taken lightly, but one I feel will continue to help in my development as a cricketer.”
“The Club has a rich history of success and are always the team to beat in all formats. I’m looking forward to joining the squad and working with the coaches to take my game to the next level to help bring more trophies to the Club.”
Director of Surrey Men’s Cricket Alec Stewart said: “The opportunity to bring a player of Henry Crocombe’s potential to Surrey was something we were keen to make happen.”
“We’re delighted that Henry has chosen to make the move here. It was clear after early conversations that our ambitions aligned.
“We’re looking forward to supporting his progression and seeing him show off his skills in a Surrey shirt.”
