Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has admitted that one of his players is not fully up to speed following the Champions League win over Copenhagen.
The Spurs boss spoke to the media after his side made amends for the meek loss to Chelsea with a 4-0 hammering of the Danish outfit.
Brennan Johnson put Tottenham ahead in the first half before Wilson Odobert, Micky van de Ven and Joao Palhinha struck in the second half.
Spurs were comprehensive winners despite going down to ten men just before the hour mark, Johnson getting sent off for a studs-up challenge on Marcos Lopez.
Most of Tottenham’s players impressed on the night, but Frank admitted one of his new recruits is not quite at his best just yet.
Randal Kolo Muani not ‘fully firing yet’ as Thomas Frank lists positives
Randal Kolo Muani joined Tottenham to much fanfare over the summer, the Frenchman arriving on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
However, he has not been at his best since his switch to N17, and he couldn’t find the net on Tuesday night, either.
Frank admitted that Muani is not up to speed yet, but he feels that the striker is on the right track.
“I think he’s just taking steps in the right direction and he’s getting more and more fit,” Frank said, as per London World.
“I will still go as far as I don’t think he’s fully firing yet, but you can see he’s such a handful to play against.
“The goal is a ball in behind where he just can’t really control it, the defender and he’s practically on the goalkeeper.
“Then he shows extreme composure to just take the ball down and a nice assist for Wilson. He’s through two or three times and could have scored more.
“So I think he was a threat, probably also should have scored on the header.”
Three more Tottenham stars get praise from Thomas Frank
Frank also spoke highly of Johnson and Odobert, who were on the scoresheet on the night, along with Xavi Simons.
“I think it was a step forward,” said the Dane. “I liked what I saw from Brennan, it was classic Brennan, running in behind.
“I really liked the assist from Xavi, very good assist from Xavi. So happy that it was a goal from Brennan, assist from Xavi.
“I liked bits from Wilson, and also of course he scored.
“I think Kolo looked like a handful, in many situations. He could easily have scored one or two goals maybe in the end.
“I think all of them have much more to come. But it was definitely a step forward.”
