A groundbreaking London Ambulance Service app helping paramedics learn from patient outcomes and improve care has won a major national healthcare award.
The My Clinical Feedback app won the Driving Change Through Data and Analytics category at the HSJ Digital Awards 2026.
The prestigious award recognised the app’s role in transforming learning and patient care for ambulance clinicians.
It was also Highly Commended in the Improving Urgent and Emergency Care through Digital award category.
For the first time in the UK, paramedics can now access feedback about patient outcomes after hospital handover.
Chief Digital Officer Clare McMillan said: “My Clinical Feedback has been driven by a simple but powerful idea – giving clinicians the opportunity to learn what happened to the patients they cared for.
“Our crews make life-or-death decisions every day, often in high-pressure and challenging circumstances.
“They never stop caring about their patients after they leave them at hospital. This feedback helps them learn from every patient they treat and improve care for the next one.”
By tracking what happens to their patients, clinicians can reflect on their decisions, interventions and treatment.
The app also encourages ambulance clinicians to discuss cases anonymously with colleagues to share knowledge and learning.
This is empowering crews to treat patients at home when it is safe to do so, reducing unnecessary trips to hospital.
The app is already live at 15 hospitals and when rolled out further is expected to help save the NHS an estimated £23 million a year.
The initiative has already been embedded across the organisation and London Ambulance Service is now working with NHS partners to explore opportunities for national rollout.
The HSJ Digital Awards are among the most competitive in UK healthcare, with hundreds of entries submitted each year recognising innovation, digital transformation and improvements in patient care across the NHS.
