Coventry City host Fulham on Saturday afternoon (3pm) in a match that pits together two sides in the lower reaches of the Premier League.
The Sky Blues had their wings clipped ever so slightly last Monday night when Tottenham Hotspur beat them to record their first win of the season. Prior to that Frank Lampard’s men looked to be finding their feet back at the top table of English football having strung together successive wins over Nottingham Forest and Newcastle.
Plenty of confidence was gained from those wins and from large portions of how they fared against Roberto de Zerbi’s side.
Speaking ahead of Fulham’s visit, Lampard admitted that choosing his line-ups was becoming “the hardest part” of his job. Jack Rudoni is one player that has come to the fore in recent weeks as he continues to settle into life in the top tier.
Fulham visit the Midlands off the back of a much-needed win against Hull as they finally sealed a Premier League victory at the seventh time of asking.
On Saturday’s opponents, Lampard said: “Their results are not aligned with their performances. They have a really good style of play and like a lot of possession. They can build or play through, so have a lot of entries into the final third.”
As for the Cottagers, manager Alvaro Arbeloa says that although it was a relief to finally get off the mark “nothing has changed” in terms of how they approach things.
The Spaniard said: “When we were not winning we kept the belief. Now, we have the same target to win a tough game against Coventry. We have the reward we were looking for and we have to fight again.
“I know it is important for a coach (to get first win), but I don’t feel this. It’s about my players and supporters. They deserved the win.”
Fulham have only Ryan Sessegnon unavailable through suspension with Arbeloa able to select from an otherwise fully-fit squad.
