The much-anticipated heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua does not have a rematch clause inserted, it has been revealed.
The British superstars are finally set to meet after years and years of will-they-won’t-they with the bout scheduled for the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Friday, December 11.
As with many big fights, there’s been ample talk about the prospect of it being the first of multiple meetings but that appears to be firmly off the table here, with the pre-Christmas dust-up expected to be a “one-off” affair.
Spencer Brown, Fury’s manager, told Sky Sports: “Contractually, there’s one fight. There’s one big fight. It was designed for that. I’m not saying there can’t be a second fight. But, if Tyson wins, we’d like to resume things with [Oleksandr] Usyk as well.”
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn also confirmed that there is currently no prospect of a second fight but refused to rule out such a possibility.
“No rematch clause. It’s one fight, one-off,” Hearn said. “Listen, if it’s a blockbuster, I’m sure they’ll do it again. But for our mindset, it’s one and done. Go in there, end this guy and on we go.”
