The University of Reading has maintained its place among the UK’s top 30 universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, published today [30 September].
Reading is ranked at 27 in the UK, out of 110 institutions included in the table.
The University is ranked 219 in the world, out of almost 2,300 featured. This is the first year THE has published individual positions for universities outside the top 200, instead of grouping them in bands. Reading’s position is in line with the 201–250 band the University has largely held since 2018.
This year’s results show Reading’s reputation for research and teaching growing, with scores for ‘research reputation’ and ‘teaching reputation’ both rising. Reading also climbed 13 places to 285 in the world for ‘research environment’.
The University continues to rank highly for ‘international outlook’. It is 73rd in the world, which puts it in the top 4% of universities ranked. This reflects Reading’s status as a global university with campuses on three continents and students from more than 160 countries.
