AAdvantage Members Raise 1.2 Million Dollars For The American Red Cross

Donation marks 40 years of partnership, helping advance future disaster relief and humanitarian aid efforts

FORT WORTH, Texas — Today, American Airlines announced a $1.2 million dollar donation to the American Red Cross, thanks to the support and generosity of American’s AAdvantage® members.

The monthlong fundraising effort invited AAdvantage® members to earn bonus miles with every donation in support of the Red Cross mission, commemorating 40 years of partnership between American and the Red Cross. The donation will directly fund future Red Cross disaster relief, response and recovery efforts.

Over four decades, American has partnered with the Red Cross to help ensure support is available during emergencies. In 2023, American became a Red Cross Mission Leader, joining the organization’s top tier of donors contributing more than $3 million annually to help alleviate suffering during crises.

“While we wish there was never a need for these funds – we know how important these donations are in ensuring that we are set up to provide resources when disaster strikes,” said American’s Chief Marketing Officer Caroline Clayton. “We couldn’t be prouder of our AAdvantage® members who helped turn generosity into a meaningful impact for communities in need.”

“I am deeply grateful for Mission Leaders like American Airlines that play a vital role in helping the Red Cross respond quickly and effectively when disasters strike,” said American Red Cross president and CEO Cliff Holtz. “Support from forward-thinking organizations like American helps ensure we are prepared to meet rising needs and deliver critical relief to families and communities when its needed most.”

Over decades of partnership, American and the Red Cross have demonstrated the power of shared purpose. American has been a member of the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program since 2014, providing support before disasters occur. As disasters grow more frequent and intense, American remains committed to keeping help, hope and humanity within reach.
