England fans face soaring costs to see the Three Lions play in Atlanta tomorrow. The lowest-priced ticket to the semi-final has increased by £431 (35%) since Friday, the day before England secured their semi-final place.
The most expensive tickets have skyrocketed too, with the priciest ticket to the semi-final in Atlanta rising by £146,040 to £188,534. This is over four times as much as the costliest listing for the Atlanta semi-final on Friday (£42,695).
This makes the priciest semi-final ticket cost even more than the priciest ticket to the World Cup Final, with the most expensive ticket in the New York New Jersey Stadium only costing £160,775.
England and Argentina fans face a minimum cost of £5,468 to attend both the semi-final and Final, and could pay up to £349,309 to buy the costliest ticket to both.
France and Spain fans have more modest costs for last-minute tickets to their semi-final in Dallas. The lowest-priced ticket to today’s match is £845, and the most expensive comes to £108,895. Buying tickets for both their semi-final and the final would cost from £4,635 for the cheapest tickets, and up to £269,670 for the most expensive.
Gilad Zilberman, CEO of SeatPick, commented on the findings:
“England fans will be paying more than the average Brit earns in two weeks to see the Three Lions take on Argentina, and some fans could buy a house with how much the most expensive listings cost. That’s just in ticket prices too, since you need to factor in costs like flights and hotels.
“Tickets for the semi-finals were always going to surge in price after teams secured their semi-final berths, but it’s still amazing to see the scale of the increase in just three days. Many England fans might just be starting to genuinely believe the ’60 years of hurt’ could come to an end on Sunday, so will be scrambling to grab a ticket to say they were there.
“Also, plenty of neutral fans will want to see Messi play on the way to his potential second World Cup. That’s not even mentioning the fact that England vs Argentina is one of international football’s grudge matches, so the chances of seeing drama unfold like Maradona’s Hand of God in 1986 or David Beckham’s red card in 1998 will drive demand up even further.”
