Council Leader praises community and staff after a celebration that bought Islington together.
Cllr Una O’Halloran, Leader of Islington Council, said: “What a wonderful moment in history for all of Islington, the club and the fans. It will be a day I will remember forever – the atmosphere was incredible all along the route, the businesses were buzzing and the sun shone. I am so proud of the many council officers and departments who worked with the club and all our partners to make this happen.
“Tireless and resilient is how I would describe our council workers. It’s taken hundreds of officers to plan, execute and then tidy up after this parade – and I have been quite overwhelmed by the positive response from so many residents and business owners who have been pitching in to help. Our council officers and councillors have been out putting in a shift, to get us back to our usual tidy borough.
“We are a fantastic a community here in Islington and we achieve amazing things when we work together.”
