With the price of an average beer in the UK now standing at £5.01, Jet2 has revealed some of the overseas destinations where holidaymakers can raise a glass for significantly less.
New analysis shows that holidaymakers heading overseas can find a beer for less than £3 on average in ten destinations served by the UK’s largest tour operator.
Tunisia is the lowest-price destination, with the average half litre glass of beer, a typical holiday measure, costing £1.27. Among the European destinations, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic come out cheapest at £1.74 – around a third of the UK average.
They are followed by Hungary at £2.08, Portugal at £2.14, Montenegro at £2.39, Spain at £2.56, Turkey at £2.77, Poland at £2.92 and Croatia at £2.99.
That means two people enjoying a beer each in Tunisia could save £7.48 compared with the UK average – leaving more in the holiday kitty for another round, an ice cream or two, or a meal out.
