Last March, Dacia made a firm commitment to electric mobility with its strategic roadmap to 2030, which confirmed the launch of four all-electric vehicles. Today, it reveals the first in the series: New Dacia Spring.
With this second-generation Spring, Dacia is continuing the success story of a model that has sold over 210,000 units in more than 40 countries since 2021, giving many people access to electric mobility for the first time.
It’s a success built on a model that is true to Dacia’s DNA, a smart A-segment electric vehicle made in Europe, closely reflecting the everyday needs of users.
New Dacia Spring keeps the name of the previous generation but changes everything else.
Fully redesigned and built on Renault Group’s new RG-EV Small platform, it now has completely different proportions. It is 18cm wider, giving it a stronger, more robust stance, while increasing interior space.
With the RG-EV Small platform, New Spring gains the latest e-technologies from Renault Group, a pioneer in this field, continuously seeking to make the best technology accessible to as many people as possible.
New Spring is the first Dacia to benefit from Renault Group’s new development programmes, designed to speed up the vehicle design cycle and cut development time to under two years, while also reducing costs. It’s an approach that is fundamentally Dacia in its ability to cut straight to the essentials.
New Dacia Spring is built in Europe, at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia.
ESSENTIAL AND COOL: THE IDEAL EVERYDAY COMPANION
Owners of the first-generation Dacia Spring use their cars primarily for the daily commute, covering an average of 13 miles a day1, at an average of 13mph1. In 75% of cases, the car is charged at home. New Spring remains the ideal vehicle for commuting and everyday leisure activities.
STRONG DESIGN FOR EVERYDAY USE
In true Dacia fashion, New Spring focuses on the essentials while confirming its strong personality. The highly geometric, structured design is simple, clear and functional, stripping out the superfluous.
Dacia’s identity is visible in the black trim strips linking the headlights and taillights at the front and rear. They emphasise the vehicle’s width while also underlining the unique light signature inspired by the Dacia Link emblem.
Reflecting the same simplicity, New Spring is available in four colours: Agave, Shadow Grey, Diamond Black and Glacier White.
Alongside the main styling features, other details also contribute to the vehicle’s identity. A black strip visually separates the roof from the body of the car. Its geometric pattern is repeated inside the cabin, underlining the overall cohesion and attention to detail.
The same approach was applied to the interior design. The horizontal lines of the dashboard create a greater sense of space while making information easily legible. The instrument panel gains a 7-inch screen with a 10.1-inch multimedia touchscreen in the centre of the dashboard, within sight and reach of both the driver and passenger.
The bluish shade of the upholstery echoes the accents on the dashboard and the Agave colour. A range of storage compartments and features illustrate a design philosophy placing the emphasis on real-world use.
ELECTRIC PERFORMANCE TAILORED TO THE REAL NEEDS OF CUSTOMERS
New Dacia Spring features a powertrain developing 60 kW (80 hp) and torque of 175 Nm. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds with a top speed of 130 km/h, it is able to merge smoothly into the flow of urban and motorway traffic.
One charge per week is sufficient for most New Spring users, since the LFP battery with 27.5 kWh of usable capacity offers a range of up to 155 miles over a WLTP combined cycle.
New Dacia Spring offers customers simple and efficient charging solutions, covering all needs and types of infrastructure.
Spring is equipped with an onboard 6.6 kW AC charger as standard, which charges from 15% to 80% in 9 hours via a domestic socket. This allows customers to fully charge their vehicle overnight or during the day, without requiring dedicated home charging equipment.
With a heavy-duty socket, charging from 15% to 80% takes 5 hours 40 minutes, and with a 7 kW home charger, just 2 hours 55 minutes.
The optional Charge Pack includes an 11 kW AC charger and 50 kW DC charger, cutting the time required to charge from 15% to 80% to just 1 hour 55 minutes, with an 11 kW three-phase home charger or a 22 kW charging point. The 50 kW DC charger provides access to fast-chargers, allowing users to charge from 15% to 80% in just 28 minutes.
DESIGNED FOR A RELAXED DRIVING EXPERIENCE
New Dacia Spring is designed to deliver a relaxed day-to-day driving experience.
A hands-free card (standard on the Journey trim) provides easy access. The driving position can be adjusted to suit, with a sliding, height-adjustable driver’s seat and reclining backrest, as well as a heigh- and reach-adjustable steering wheel.
A 7-inch digital instrument cluster is standard on all trim levels, allowing drivers to customise the display to show the information they require.
Built to cope easily with urban traffic, New Spring has a turning circle of just 4.95m for optimum manoeuvrability. An automatic electric parking brake and reversing sensors – standard on all trims – make light work of manoeuvres. For greater comfort, New Spring is also equipped with a reversing camera, standard with the Journey trim.
On the road, New Spring delivers a smooth driving experience thanks to its RG-EV Small platform powertrain and tyres, with either 15-inch or 16-inch wheels.
To make life even easier, Dacia has installed its ingenious ‘My Safety’ function, which allows drivers to easily customise the settings of certain ADAS on start-up, to avoid adjusting each one individually every time.
SIMPLY CONNECTED
Reflecting the times while remaining true to Dacia’s core values, New Spring makes connectivity simple, affordable and efficient.
Standard on Expression trim, Media Control is a multimedia system with steering wheel-mounted controls, displaying media information and phone calls on the digital instrument panel. By connecting to Dacia Media Control, a free app with a new interface, drivers are able to manage radio / media functions and access other features from their smartphone screens. A secure, ergonomic phone holder is provided in the upper central section of the dashboard. With New Spring, Media Control can be used in portrait format.
The Media Nav Live system, standard on the Journey trim, features a 10.1-inch central touchscreen and wireless smartphone mirroring via Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM. It also includes 8 years of connected navigation, with real-time traffic data and continuously updated maps of Europe. Finally, it offers a range of connected services such as an app store, charge scheduling, cabin pre-conditioning, vehicle tracking and more.
ROBUST & OUTDOOR: READY FOR ANY ADVENTURE
New Dacia Spring is a car of bold proportions. Longer (+15cm) and wider (+18cm) than the previous generation, with a short, high bonnet and pronounced wheel arches, New Spring sits squarely on the road.
Compact and agile in urban environments, it also delivers genuine on-road capabilities, making it a versatile vehicle that is equally at ease in all everyday driving situations.
BUILT FOR GETAWAYS
The robust, compact lines of New Spring are showcased by the vertical front and rear ends with the shoulders rising over the rear wheels, lending it a commanding presence and natural strength.
Designed for the rigours of everyday use, New Spring features large protective panels in the front and rear bumpers. The black plastic is self-coloured with a linear textured finish, making it less sensitive to minor scratches and scuffing. Reflecting this same approach to durability, the gloss black front and rear trim strips feature a laser-grained finish that helps to maintain their appearance over time.
New Spring’s design is in keeping with the outdoor spirit of Dacia, with the emphasis on function.
ENHANCED INTERIOR SPACE
New Dacia Spring is 3.85m long and 1.74m wide (excluding mirrors) for greater versatility. It has one of the most spacious interiors in the electric A-segment and the largest boot capacity.
New Spring sets a new class standard in this respect, with a boot capacity of up to 337 litres, outperforming some models in the next segment up. A removable floor in two separate sections allows the boot to be divided into compartments to secure or conceal items.
Load capacity can be increased to 1,283 litres by folding the rear seat, which includes a 50/50 split.
New Spring remains the only A-segment vehicle to feature a “frunk”, a storage space under the bonnet. Available as an option, it provides an additional 18 litres of storage space, ideal for stowing the charging cable and other accessories.
ACCESSORIES FOR THE GREAT OUTDOORS
As standard, New Spring has up to three YouClip mounting points (one on the front centre console on the passenger side, two in the boot), along with two additional mounting points available as accessories (headrest support). Devised by Dacia engineers, this ingenious system is a practical and secure way to attach accessories inside the cabin: a smartphone cable organiser, a glasses case, a foldable shopping bag, a clever “3-in-1” device combining a cup holder, a bag hook and a portable torch, and more. All YouClip accessories are available through the Dacia network.
New Spring lets users personalise the interior with a range of modular accessories, designed to make life easier. The distinctive “Pelican” centre console organiser holds everyday essentials, while the custom non-slip console mats protect and enhance the surface areas. The padded central armrest with a closed storage compartment offers greater comfort and a discreet space for personal belongings. The adjustable centre console dividers allow users to organise the console to suit their needs, while the small, closed central storage compartment – which can be fitted at the front or rear of the console – ensures quick and easy access to everyday items.
New Spring is also available with many other accessories designed to provide additional protection such as floor and boot mats made from 50% recycled rubber, an Easyflex modular boot liner, door sills, front and rear mud flaps, and more.
With its vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability – included in the Charge Pack – New Spring is able to power small electrical appliances independently, such as lights, e-bike batteries and coffee makers. New Spring makes outdoor activities easier.
ECO-SMART: GREAT VALUE ELECTRIC MOBILITY
With its new design process, ingenious styling, affordable pricing and remarkable efficiency, New Dacia Spring was developed to make everyday low-carbon mobility more accessible.
SMART AND FUNCTIONAL DESIGN
Like every Dacia, New Spring is designed around one simple principle: getting the most out of the least. To this end, each design feature serves a specific purpose, whether to improve efficiency, cut costs or optimise the use of resources.
This approach is particularly evident in the distinctive light signature. Inspired by Dacia Link, the ingenious design gives the vehicle a strong visual identity with a limited number of components: only the upper part of the signature is illuminated by LED diffusers, while the lower part, angled at 45 degrees, simply reflects the light from above, creating a floating effect. This design also adds depth to the headlights and other lights. It is an approach that is both efficient and economical, just like Dacia.
Both inside and outside the vehicle, the pursuit of simplicity serves to eliminate the unnecessary and showcase the vehicle’s key features. This approach is also in evident at the rear, where the Dacia name is directly integrated into the trim strip. Rather than being separately attached, the letters form part of the strip itself. Their surface is slightly angled so as to catch the light differently, creating a natural contrast. The Dacia logo remains visible but in a subtle, understated way.
This approach also contributes to keeping vehicle weight down, a key factor in efficiency and value for money.
OUTSTANDING EFFICIENCY
New Spring’s light weight is one of the keys to its efficiency. True to Dacia’s philosophy, it is one of the lightest all-electric models in its segment, at 1,212kg, limiting power consumption to just 12.7 kWh/100 km (WLTP combined cycle), one of the lowest figures on the market.
A REDUCED CARBON FOOTPRINT
From its rapid development right through to its resource-efficient everyday operation, New Dacia Spring limits its environmental impact. Lightweight and efficient, it is fitted with an LFP battery whose materials – notably iron and phosphate – are more readily available than the nickel and cobalt commonly used in car batteries.
With its frugal design, all-electric powertrain and European production, New Dacia Spring is one of the most affordable low-carbon mobility solutions on the market. New Spring’s aim is to cut its carbon footprint by around 60% over its entire life cycle compared with equivalent ICE models2.
In this way, New Spring consolidates its position among the most affordable and versatile vehicles on the market, helping to promote more climate-friendly mobility. By making low-carbon transport accessible to as many people as possible, it is helping to speed up the transition to electric vehicles.
THE MOST AFFORDABLE ELECTRIC CAR ON THE MARKET, BUILT IN EUROPE
New Spring is true to Dacia’s positioning as a value-for-money brand. Combining affordable pricing with low running costs, a modern, robust design and best-in-class interior space, it delivers the best value for money in the A-segment.
It is anticipated that the entire New Dacia Spring range will be priced below £18,000 before any potential government subsidies. Full UK pricing and specifications will follow in due course.
A CLEAR AND SIMPLE LINE UP
In keeping with Dacia’s relentless focus on the essentials and simplifying customer choice, the New Spring line-up is simple and straightforward. It comes in two trim levels, Expression and Journey, both with the same 60 kW / 80 hp motor, the same 27.5 kWh LFP battery and the same 6.6 kW AC charger.
