Powerball Jackpot Reaches Estimated £411m as Rollover Series Nears Historic Record

Thursday morning’s Powerball jackpot has climbed to an extraordinary estimated £411 million, as excitement continues to build among UK players.

Just weeks after launching in the UK, Powerball is generating huge excitement as UK players join the game’s biggest jackpot roll series of the year.

Thursday’s draw will mark the 40th consecutive rollover draw. The longest jackpot run in Powerball history stands at 47 consecutive draws, achieved during the record-breaking run that culminated in the $1.817 billion jackpot won on Christmas Eve last year.

While it has been seven months since Powerball’s last billion-dollar jackpot, a $1.817 billion prize won in Arkansas on 24 December 2025, the game has continued to create multi-millionaires across the United States.

So far in 2026, five jackpots have been won across seven US jurisdictions and UK players are now in the running for the chance to land the colossal top prize.

Prior to the current run, the largest Powerball jackpot won this year was $250.8 million, claimed in Arkansas in March.

Should the jackpot be won by a UK player, it would comfortably become the largest National Lottery win ever awarded in the UK, eclipsing the current record of £195M won by an anonymous ticket-holder on EuroMillions in 2022.

How does Powerball work in the UK?

Powerball launched in the UK in partnership with the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) – a non-profit association owned and operated by its member lotteries.

With 48 US-based lotteries already participating in Powerball, Allwyn launched a tailored version of the game for UK players.

Priced at £4 per line, UK players can play for a chance to win the shared jackpot by matching five main numbers plus the Powerball, with the jackpot paid to UK winners over 30 years.

The UK game features an additional ’Match 2 main numbers’ prize tier, available only to UK players, which offers a fixed prize of £8.

The ‘Match 5 main numbers’ tier also offers a fixed prize of £1M, while all other prize tiers offer estimated prizes, which vary depending on the numbers drawn and the number of winners in each tier.

Players choose five main numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26, or can opt for a Lucky Dip.

Thereafter, tickets are available online and in-store until 11.55pm the night before each draw. Draws take place around 4am UK time on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from the Powerball studio in Florida.

The UK advertised jackpot will be the estimated amount paid to most winners over 30 years after UK taxes. In rare circumstances, additional taxes may apply to the jackpot depending on the winner’s circumstances (for example, if the winner is not a UK tax resident) because of the prize money originating from the US.

The estimated US Powerball jackpot and the UK jackpot are not directly comparable. The US jackpot is advertised in US dollars and before taxes, while the UK jackpot is advertised as a post-tax value. The UK jackpot is paid as an annuity over 30 years, with the advertised amount calculated using the highest applicable UK tax rate.
